SUBW PBT ~ October 2006

On Friday Night, Tom, Rachel & I left Katoomba station and headed off into the blackness. It was a stunning clear, starry night - perfect for a neckbash!!

We camped in an overhang at the end. Up bright and early next morning we made our way down white dog ridge to the coxs river for breakfast. If it hadn't already, the weight of our bludge packs sure kicked in as we climbed up the ridge to the low gangerangs.

We followed the ridge up through the oak terraces to rigby rock and had lunch in a fine patch of cool shady forest. Our plan for the day had been to get to dex creek via gentles pass for lunch, and reach the campsite on gingra creek via cloudmaker and ti willa. The warmth of the day combined with our heavy loads convinced to take the sensible option of a shortcut via Kowong Mountain.

We met the rest of the gang an hour or so after dark. I had dinner and went to bed early.

Next morning we strolled casually up the kowmung....glorious....

Along the way we spotted these snakes - they were actually mating

One particularly deep swimming hole was too good to refuse. I took a video of this group jump.

Camp was made just upstream of ferny flat. We were all pleased to find our fire scar from last year had completely regenerated.

That night we all made merry with song, fine food and wine. In the morning we slowly assembled by the fire...

In the afternoon we assembled on cottage rock to enjoy some views befitting the quality of the walk.

It was a tremendous few days in the bush. Many thanks to Kate and everyone else for making it so.
