Sid's Country ~ July 2004
We were lucky enough to meet some traditional owners and be invited onto their land.
We were shown some traditional techniques, such as digging for witchety grubs and honey ants.

Digging for witchety grubs

Up close
Witchety grubs are found in the root of Acacia (Mulga) shrubs. The enlarged root gives away their presence.

Home sweet home...

They aren't really dirty or disgusting like most people imagine
Digging for honey ants was much harder work. It required incredible perseverence.

In the heat of the day it was very impressive
The hard work paid off....what a sight!!

Honey ants

We crossed this creek to get to our campsite

We were spoilt again with local crayfish

One of the many beaut swimming holes

Terrific country
